  • we have lunch at my sisters and we all bring food to share. my sister writes up a list in october so we all know what we are doing well in advance. we have chicken, lamb, ham, pork (these are all roasted and then cooled), dozens of salads but best of all is the desserts. My sister makes the best chocolate cheesecake, pavlova, tirimisu, mouse(spell?) you name she can make it. yummy yummy I LOVE CHRISTMAS FOOD. LOL havnt had eggnog either but we plan on it this year
  • what you wrote is the usual menu we have but I thought we'd go seafood this
year, but still have to have ham :)
  • mmm seafood...
I am thinking about our Christmas menu too... we'll be sharing our day with a vegetarian and cooking outdoors with minimal facilities and no fridge so it should be quite an adventure... I am thinking salad sandwiches might be nice!
  • Me, Me, Me! I'm thinking about Christmas meals already! We always host Christmas Eve dinner and I'm already planning the menu and making a grocery list.

It's one of the few meals I really enjoy cooking during the year.

Oh, and egg nog? ((shudder)) .... skeeves me out. I can't eat anything with raw eggs. It's a psychological thing.

Of course, I make an exception for cookie dough.
  • I always keep it simple and informal. Christmas Eve we do so much snacking that nobody's very hungry for dinner. That's a good night to have a taco salad or chili along with our hot buttered rum.

For Christmas dinner I still like to keep in simple and informal. My favorite is Honey Baked Ham (can't afford that this year though, will have to get a cheaper ham), mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, green beans w/ onions and those cheap and unhealthy dinner rolls.
  • Oh you are so smart to start your shopping list now. I am working on that now. I hope to get all the different meals and dishes to pass figured out this weekend and the shoppings list started.

I like serving appitizers, rather than a full meal--I'm just that kind of gal!
  • Am I the only one leaving everything too late:)
  • I've got a easy recipe for egg nog. Email me.
