Mummified Times Five: Want to make her moan?

  • HollyB · 1 year ago
I have to agree cut off those fingers, though I feel bad I didn't get anything! lol

Hopefully changing your password will help. I know it helped me when mine was broken into.

Holly, I'm hoping they didn't touch my contact list because a few people are saying they didn't get anything. :)

I haven't been game to check my email since I got back online after those 3wks MIA, but I hope I got one...lol

And considering the topic of the email, maybe fingers are not enough??

Hackers have learned how to make it look like you sent it, when you haven't. The ones like that that are from mailer daemons (error reports, basically) are usually faked as well.

Thanks for the info, Sarah :)

I've always wondered who daemon was too!! I've been getting similar e-mails too and I have no idea why. I keep meaning to mark them as spam instead of just deleting them! Hopefully changing your password will do the trick!

There's likely nothing you can do. They probably didn't get into your account at all. You know how when you set up a new mail account in Outlook Express or any other mail client, it asks you to type in the e-mail address you want to send from? Well you can type anything you want in there... and so can spammers. (For most mail servers, your login and password are only used to receive mail; there is no authentication for sending.) It's not uncommon for spam software to randomly choose one of its "victims" to use as the sender address, and that's probably what happened to you.

Just be thankful you didn't have what happened to me. Someone decided to send child porn spam using a fake address at my domain as the sender, and I was woken up at 1am by a phone call from someone saying they were going to report me to the FBI.

OMG! That would have been frightening! Sorry that happened to you :(

Oh no! That's pretty close to my worst fear. Sorry that it happened to you!

I gave you an award on my blog. :)
